Jeff Hoover has taught ESL, reading, and writing at Minneapolis Community and Technical College since 1992. He currently teaches students to develop their reading and writing process, to use the Internet to become independent learners, and to never give up. Marilyn Bohne has 35 years of experience teaching English language and literature, composition, public speaking, and various English as a Foreign Language courses. Adele Hansen has been teaching English as a Foreign and Second Language for over twenty years. She has taught in Thailand and Algeria. Much of her work has been in the field of Teaching and Designing English for Special Purposes materials. She taught at the University of Minnesota for many years, and is currently an Instructor at Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Kurmanjan Kilichova has taught English in Central Asia for nearly twenty years. She has developed curricula for teaching Kyrgyz and Russian as foreign languages and has over ten years of experience teaching Kyrgyz and Russian to adult learners. She teaches and works as a language education consultant for several humanitarian and development organizations in Kyrgyzstan. Kristi Kline Liu is a Senior Research Fellow at the National Center on Educational Outcomes in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this position she provides technical assistance to U.S. educators and state education officials on the topics of large-scale assessment and standards-based instruction for English language learners (ELLs) and ELLs with disabilities. Kristi also conducts research in a variety of areas including assessment policies, assessment data reporting, accessible assessment practices, effective instruction and parent participation in education. Before working at the National Center on Educational Outcomes she taught English as a Second Language at the secondary, post-secondary and adult levels in the United States. Kristi has written and presented extensively on these topics; authoring more than 40 articles and reports and making over 30 presentations. Ellen Lewin has lived and studied in Spain, Costa Rica, and Mexico. She has taught ESL at the Instituto Cultural Mexicano/Norteamericano/Jalisco, Mexico, the University of Minnesota, USA, and Minneapolis Community and Technical College, USA. She is actively involved in professional development, giving numerous presentations for MinneTESOL, LEP conferences, MnSCU, and TESOL, and serving on a wide variety of educational committees. She participates on the ACT ESL Assessment Test Fairness panel and regularly develops and examines ESL Assessment tools for the State of Minnesota. She regularly trains volunteers for numerous organizations. Askarbek Membetaliev has coordinated educational projects aimed at introducing values of a free society into post-Soviet Central Asia. He served as a liaison person and cultural expert for several pionneering international organizations in the early stages of Kyrgyzstan's independence. He has and published numerous articles in Central Asian languages concerning the issues of democracy and freedom. He is a passionate promoter of mutual internaational relationships, and currently is the director of the Center for Parliamentarianism and International Education at Arabaev Kyrgyz State University, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. , Center for International Education blog site Jay Neuharth worked as a project engineer in the U.S. Air Force for several years before leaving the military to pursue international education. He taught ESL briefly at Portland State University, U.S.A., before moving with his family to Kyrgyzstan, where he became the director of a humanitarian and educational development organization. He currently teaches courses in several villages in northern Kyrgyzstan, as well as teaching music and drama at Hope Academy Bishkek.
