We are now accepting applications for the AWAYTOC 1: Practical Certificate program. The Practical Certificate Program includes three courses. Each of these courses involves approximately 30 hours of classroom instruction and 60 hours of individual or group work outside of class. 1. Foundations of Teaching Language 22-27 June 9.00-17.00, 2 July 9.00-11.00 Study principles of applied linguistics and second-language acquisition, common methods of language teaching, lesson planning, and classroom management. 2. Foundations of Teaching English 24 June—3 Aug. Mon, Wed, Fri. 9.00-11.00 Learn specifics principles and methods for teaching English speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing, and grammar. 3. Practicum 29 June—31 July, hours and locations vary. Work alongside another apprentice teacher, under the direction of a mentor, to teach courses in the Bishkek area. At the end of this program, you will be able to… 1. Demonstrate the most widely accepted methods of language teaching. 2. Compare the strengths and weaknesses of various teaching methods in relation to student needs, available resources, and curriculum objectives. 3. Present lessons for individuals, small groups, and large groups according to assigned curricula and materials. 4. Demonstrate the distinctive grammar, pronunciation, and written styles of the target language and describe activities to enhance student abilities in those areas 5. Apply classroom management techniques to avoid common problems and enhance learning. 6. Use a variety of skills to increase awareness of teaching style and methods. 7.
