| Professional Language Teacher Program |

Description: The Professional Language Teaching program is designed to give new teachers the knowledge and skills necessary to create original lesson plans, handle diverse classroom management issues, and enter their professional community. Participants enter an apprenticeship for approximately six months, during which they work as lead teacher in several levels and skills of language courses and complete projects and readings assigned by their mentor. Participants are assigned positions as teaching staff and participate in meetings related to student, course, and school management.
Time: Usually six months, including… 1. 120 hours as lead teacher 2. 5-10 hours of teaching in the presence of a mentor 3. 10-15 hours of personal instruction and assessment by a mentor 4. 40 hours of readings and research projects
