Summary: Ellie finds a message from Hadden that another machine was built on a small island, and Ellie is the person who will get to go. She goes to the island for training. The section ends with government officials giving her cyanide tablets. Palmer returns, and gives her back the compass in their reconciliation. He says that he didn’t want her to go because, due to the effects of time travel, when she returned he could be dead. Then he leaves.
